CICS welcomed George Bissias as a Research Assistant Professor
starting January 2020. Bissias's research focuses on using statistical inference to measure user participation in p2p networks, development and deployment of DpComp, a benchmark suite for differentially private algorithms, and investigation of techniques for improving the security and scalability of Bitcoin. Previously, Bissias worked as a research scientist at CICS for Professors Brian Levine and Gerome Miklau, and spent several years working at mobile advertising startup Fiksu and distributed database startup Hadapt. He received his PhD in computer science from UMass Amherst in 2010.
