His research experience includes VLSI Circuit Design, VLSI Testing, CAD algorithms, Microarchitecture and Information and Coding Theory. I have scholarly publications in all of those areas.
Professor Kundu joined University of Massachusetts in January of 2005.
Prior to joining UMass, he was with Intel Corporation between 1997 and 2005 and IBM Research Centers (T J Watson & ARL) between 1988 and 1997.
He has a Ph.D in Electrical & Computer Engineering from University of Iowa (1988) and B.Tech (Hons.) in Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (1984).
Professor Kundu has won numerous awards including five best paper awards, Development Leadership Pioneer Award at Intel Corporation and Outstanding Technical Achievement award at IBM Corporation. I was also a recipient of National Talent Scholarship in India.
He is a Fellow of the IEEE, invitational Fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) and a Senior International Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. I have been a Distinguished Visitor of the IEEE Computer Society. I am currently an Associate Editor of the ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems. Previously, I have served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Computers, and the IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems.
He has also held visiting professor positions at the University of Freiburg in Germany, University of Montpellier in France, Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan, and Southampton University in UK.
